A Heart for Duns is delighted to announce that it has successfully achieved the nationally recognised Investing in Volunteers standard, the UK quality mark for organisations that work with volunteers.

The award recognises the organisation’s commitment to providing an outstanding volunteering experience and highlights its dedication to supporting, developing and valuing the vital contribution volunteers make to the local community.

The achievement follows a rigorous assessment process involving volunteers, staff and trustees, who demonstrated the organisation’s strong volunteer management practices and commitment to continuous improvement.

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Investing in Volunteers Standard. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and staff, who work tirelessly to support our community. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the assessment process and helped us reach this important milestone.”
– Sharon Cleghorn, Trustee

As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening volunteer involvement, A Heart for Duns has recently appointed Marc Fletcher as its new Volunteer Co-ordinator. The two-year post has been funded through a National Lottery Awards for All grant and will focus on enhancing volunteer recruitment, training, support and development across the charity.

Marc will play a key role in building on the success of achieving the Investing in Volunteers Standard, helping to expand volunteering opportunities and ensure volunteers continue to receive excellent support throughout their journey with AHFD.

“It’s great to be joining A Heart for Duns at a point when the organisation has achieved the Investing in Volunteers Standard. I’m looking forward to getting to know our volunteers and working with people across the community to build on what’s already in place.”
– Marc Fletcher, Volunteer Co-ordinator

A Heart for Duns is excited about the future and remains committed to developing its volunteer programme, creating meaningful opportunities for local people to make a positive difference across its core TD10 and TD11 working area, and Berwickshire more broadly.
