Charities and community organisations are continually exploring new ways to generate sustainable income while reducing reliance on traditional fundraising and competitive grant funding. MyCharity Mobile offers an opportunity to create a regular source of unrestricted income through a service that supporters already use every day.

The scheme enables charities of all sizes to launch their own branded mobile service, allowing supporters to turn their monthly phone bill into a regular donation for a cause they care about.

A different approach to fundraising

Unlike many fundraising activities that rely on one-off donations, events or campaigns, MyCharity Mobile is built around recurring monthly income.

Supporters sign up to a mobile plan and select a charity to support. In return, a proportion of their monthly bill is donated to that organisation at no additional cost to them.

For every £1 spent on a plan, 15p is returned to the chosen charity as a donation. This creates an ongoing income stream that can grow over time as more supporters join.

As the donations are linked to monthly subscriptions, organisations may benefit from a more predictable source of income than some traditional fundraising methods.

No setup costs or financial risk

One of the key features of the scheme is that charities can become involved without the costs and risks often associated with launching a new income-generating initiative.

Partner organisations benefit from:

  • No setup fees
  • No licensing costs
  • No commercial risk
  • No minimum supporter numbers
  • No technical expertise required

This means that smaller charities, community groups and voluntary organisations can explore the opportunity alongside larger charities.

Your charity, your brand

Participating organisations can create a fully branded mobile service featuring their own identity.

The service can be customised with:

  • The organisation’s name
  • Logo
  • Brand colours
  • Images and visual assets

While the service carries the charity’s branding, MyCharity Mobile manages the technical infrastructure, customer support and day-to-day operation of the mobile network.

This allows organisations to focus on supporter engagement rather than telecommunications.

Giving supporters an easy way to help

Many supporters want to contribute to good causes but may not always be able to make additional donations. MyCharity Mobile aims to address this by connecting charitable giving with an existing household expense.

Supporters simply choose a charity, select a mobile plan and begin using the service. A portion of their monthly payment is then donated to their chosen organisation.

Customers can keep their existing phone number or choose a new one when they join.

The service offers monthly rolling plans with no contracts, no credit checks, no annual price rises and the option to cancel at any time. Physical SIM cards and eSIM options are available, allowing supporters to get started in the way that suits them best.

Reliable coverage for supporters

MyCharity Mobile is powered by Vodafone’s UK network, with 4G coverage reaching 99% of UK homes. The provider also offers access to 5G services, helping ensure supporters receive a reliable mobile experience while supporting their chosen cause.

Supporting long-term sustainability

For organisations seeking to diversify income streams, the scheme offers an alternative way to engage supporters while generating unrestricted funding.

Rather than asking supporters to make an extra donation, the model allows them to contribute through a service they already pay for each month. This creates the potential for regular income without additional cost to the supporter.

For example, an organisation with 100 supporters on a £10 monthly plan could receive around £150 per month in donations, equivalent to approximately £1,800 per year.

As charities and community organisations continue to look for innovative and sustainable funding opportunities, MyCharity Mobile may be an option worth exploring.
