The Young Women’s Movement is looking for young women aged 16-18 to take part in the next phase of its award-winning Young Women Know programme.

This unique opportunity will give participants the chance to build on existing work and help shape Scotland’s response to digital violence against young women.

Participants will have the opportunity to influence national policy and help lead a cultural shift in public understanding of digital rights, consent and AI-enabled violence. No prior knowledge or expertise is required.

The opportunity is open to all young women, including trans women, and people of marginalised genders who feel comfortable in a space that centres the experiences of young women and girls. Applicants must be aged 16-18 and live in Scotland.

Programme dates

Across the year-long project, participants will take part in two in-person hackathons and two online sessions:

  • Saturday 3rd October 2026 and Sunday 4th October 2026 (all day, in person)
  • Tuesday 1st December 2026 (evening online session)
  • Saturday 6th February 2027 and Sunday 7th February 2027 (all day, in person)
  • Tuesday 23rd February 2027 (evening online session)

Please only register interest if you are available on all programme dates.

Travel costs for the in-person sessions will be covered where needed. The venue will be decided and communicated once the geographical spread of participants is known.

Register your interest

The deadline to register interest is 9am on Thursday 17th September 2026.

The Young Women’s Movement is committed to ensuring that all young women’s voices are heard. Applications are welcomed from all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups and marginalised communities.

If you would like to discuss any accessibility requirements or request further information about the programme, contact Programmes Coordinator Sarah Johnston at [email protected].
