Description

Energise Galashiels Trust is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) dedicated to fostering a vibrant, welcoming, and confident community in Galashiels and its surrounding areas. Established in November 2014, the trust emerged from a merger of individuals and groups united by a shared vision for community enhancement. Since then, it has been actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at improving the town’s social and economic landscape.

The trust’s mission encompasses several key objectives:

– Engaging with the community to develop and implement a vision for Galashiels.

– Advancing citizenship and community development, including urban regeneration and promoting civic responsibility.

– Supporting the arts, heritage, culture, and science.

– Enhancing environmental protection and improvement.

– Providing and organising recreational facilities and activities to improve the quality of life for residents.

To achieve these goals, Energise Galashiels Trust operates through four sub-groups, each focusing on a specific area:

1. **All About Galashiels**: This group promotes the town’s attractions, events, and projects, highlighting its rich textiles and design heritage, the presence of a prestigious university campus, and its role as the rail gateway to the Scottish Borders.

2. **Looking Good**: Aiming to create a welcoming environment in the town centre, this sub-group focuses on enhancing the appearance of unoccupied premises and supports efforts to make the area attractive to businesses, visitors, and residents.

3. **Events**: This group supports local organisations in delivering major events that enhance community life and benefit the local economy, with a vision to attract and develop events with national potential.

4. **Innovative Projects**: Focused on developing projects that contribute to a more vibrant community, this sub-group collaborates with key partners to assess long-term strategic initiatives and infrastructure developments beneficial to Galashiels.

The trust operates with a small team of dedicated volunteers, reflecting its commitment to community-driven initiatives. It collaborates closely with Scottish Borders Council, South of Scotland Enterprise, and various community organisations to maximise its impact.

Through its diverse activities and collaborative approach, Energise Galashiels Trust continues to make a positive impact on the local community, striving to create a more vibrant and confident Galashiels for all its residents.
