Description

Generations Working Together (GWT) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) dedicated to fostering intergenerational connections across Scotland.

GWT’s vision is to create a Scotland where different generations are more connected, enabling everyone to build relationships that contribute to a fairer society. Its mission is to develop, expand, and improve intergenerational practice across the nation. The organisation’s values guide its work, focusing on inclusivity, collaboration, and community engagement.

To achieve its mission, GWT offers a range of services, including face-to-face and online training opportunities, a comprehensive library of resources, and the facilitation of local networks across Scotland. These initiatives support and encourage the involvement of volunteers and grassroots projects, as well as strategic levels of management and government. Additionally, GWT organises events such as learning roadshows, an annual conference, and Global Intergenerational Week to raise awareness and promote intergenerational practice.

Beneficiaries of GWT’s work include individuals and communities across Scotland, with a particular focus on those from diverse backgrounds and protected characteristics. By developing knowledge and understanding, GWT helps organisations create projects that challenge ageism and discrimination, promoting inclusion and cohesion.

Governance and structure are central to GWT’s operations. The organisation is governed by a Board of Trustees, with recent opportunities for new members to join and contribute to its strategic direction. GWT’s Corporate Plan 2020-2025 outlines five strategic aims, including enabling Scotland to become an intergenerational nation, influencing policy in favour of intergenerational practice, promoting innovation, increasing participation, and ensuring sound governance.

Looking ahead, GWT continues to inspire positive relationships across generations, striving to make Scotland a more connected and inclusive society.
