Description

Health in Mind is a Scottish charity dedicated to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing across Scotland. Established in 1982, the organisation has grown to offer a comprehensive range of services, including peer support, courses, and group activities, tailored to individual needs. Their holistic approach ensures accessible, compassionate, and effective support for all.

In the Scottish Borders, Health in Mind provides a variety of support services designed to meet the unique needs of the local community. Their 1-1 support service offers ten weekly sessions focusing on coping strategies and self-management tools for individuals experiencing mild to moderate emotional or mental health difficulties. These sessions are person-centred and can be conducted in person, online, or over the phone.

The Information Station for Mental Health and Wellbeing is a drop-in service where individuals can access advice, information, and support. Supported by a range of health and social care staff and peer support volunteers, this service offers self-help guides, signposting to community-based groups, and support with enquiries and referrals.

Health in Mind also offers group work and courses, such as the “Ways to Wellbeing” programme, a 10-week course centred around developing coping strategies and promoting self-management. These programmes are designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for participants to explore their mental health recovery.

The organisation’s impact is evident through its commitment to community engagement and the positive feedback from those who have benefited from their services. By offering a range of support options, Health in Mind continues to make a significant impact on mental health in the region, fostering resilience and understanding within the community.

Governed by a dedicated team, Health in Mind operates with a clear mission to ensure everyone in Scotland has access to high-quality mental health support when and how they need it. Their values of compassion, integrity, inclusion, and respect guide their work, ensuring that they remain responsive to the evolving needs of the communities they serve.

Looking ahead, Health in Mind remains committed to expanding its services and deepening its community connections, striving to make a lasting positive impact on mental health and wellbeing across Scotland.
