Description

Hike & Bike Hub, Galashiels SCIO, is a community-led social enterprise dedicated to promoting walking and cycling for leisure, health, and active travel in and around Galashiels, nestled in the picturesque Scottish Borders. Established in February 2023, the Hub offers a range of services, including affordable bike hire, e-bike hire, trike and e-trike hire, bike repairs and servicing, guided walks, and led cycle rides. Their mission is to foster physical health, mental well-being, and social inclusion by encouraging active lifestyles.

The Hub operates on a “pay what you can” basis, ensuring that their services are accessible to all members of the community. This inclusive approach allows those who can afford to pay the suggested prices for bike hire, servicing, and led cycle rides to support those who cannot, thereby promoting a more connected and supportive community.

In addition to their regular services, Hike & Bike Hub organises the Galashiels Walking Festival each Spring, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to explore the local area through guided walks and cycle rides. They also provide information about local walking and cycling routes, encouraging exploration of the town and its surroundings.

The Hub is run by a dedicated team of local volunteers, all passionate about walking and cycling. Their commitment to promoting everyday acceptance and inclusion of neurodiversity, particularly autism, is evident in their operations and community engagement. By supporting Hike & Bike Hub, you contribute to a more active, connected, and inclusive community in the Scottish Borders.
