The village halls grant from Scottish Borders Council, previously administered by your Federations of Village and Community Halls has now been rolled into the Neighbourhood Support Fund – this means all Village and Community hall funding applications should be submitted into the NSF through the ‘Community Spaces’ theme going forward.
A portion of the fund has been ring fenced for emergency grants to rural village and community halls and this will be available all year round, all other applications will be administered in funding rounds, the first being soon. We will communicate further when we’re ready to launch the fund and invite applications, so look out for this!
This means we need volunteers from the rural village halls to join our Funding Assessment Panel, because you bring the knowledge and understanding of what it takes to run a community space and can ensure funding decisions reflect the needs and priorities of communities across the Scottish Borders.
Panel members play a vital role in ensuring funding is allocated fairly and transparently.
Volunteers will assess applications from community groups, charities and trusts who are responsible for running community spaces.
Joining the panel offers a range of personal and professional benefits, including:
No previous funding experience is required as guidance and support will be provided.
