Borders Community Action is hosting a Central Community Network and an Online Community Network, bringing people together to connect, share ideas and explore community ownership.
These events are designed to share how to determine the feasibility of running a community asset, this could result in considering community ownership or long-term lease or neither. It’s about next steps and not entering into any plans without due diligence and an independent assessment of the options available. Each session offers the same core content.
Community ownership can help communities make better use of local assets, deliver clear community benefit and safeguard valued buildings or land that may be under threat, but not without meaningful consideration and community engagement. These events aim to provide practical guidance, expert support and opportunities to build connections that can help move projects forward.
These Community Network events will offer the same core experience, including:
Participants will have the opportunity to connect with organisations including Community Land Scotland, Community Enterprise, Community Ownership Support Service, Scottish Land Fund, South of Scotland Enterprise and Scottish Borders Council.
The events are open to anyone in the Scottish Borders looking to find out more or connect with those involved in community spaces. Spaces are limited.
This series will be followed later in the year by further Community Network events focusing on the themes of Trading and Sustainability and Collaborations and Partnerships.
