We are pleased to share an important voluntary opportunity within Borders Community Action. We are currently recruiting for a Chair Designate, a new trustee/director who will join the Board now and work alongside the current Chair with a view to formally taking on the Chair role in 2027.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about strengthening the third sector across the Scottish Borders and who is ready to contribute strategic leadership at an exciting stage in our organisation’s development.

As Chair Designate, the successful applicant will:

  • Serve as a full trustee/director while gaining insight into the organisation’s governance and strategic priorities.
  • Work closely with the current Chair and Chief Executive during a supported transition period.
  • Act as an ambassador for Borders Community Action and help shape our long‑term direction.
  • Build strong relationships across the Board, staff team and wider partners.

This is a meaningful opportunity to shadow the Chair, develop a deep understanding of our work, and prepare to lead the Board in the years ahead. As noted in the recruitment pack, “the successful candidate will work alongside fellow trustees/directors, the current Chair and the Chief Executive to ensure a well-supported and effective transition into the Chair role.”

If you or someone you know has the strategic vision, leadership experience and commitment to our values to take on this role, we warmly encourage expressions of interest.

For an informal conversation, please contact the Chair at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us strengthen the third sector across the Scottish Borders.
