Nominate your volunteers for a special evening celebration of their achievements

29/04/2026
Event | Volunteering

Volunteers are the heartbeat of communities across the Scottish Borders. They give their time, energy and skills to keep local projects running, bring neighbours together and support causes that make a real difference.

To recognise and celebrate these incredible contributions, Borders Community Action is inviting local organisations to nominate outstanding volunteers to attend a dedicated evening of celebrations taking place in Duns on Thursday 4th June 2026.

The nomination deadline is Monday 18th May 2026 so organisations are encouraged to act now to ensure their volunteers receive the appreciation they deserve.

Why nominate a volunteer?

Being nominated is more than a thank you. It gives volunteers the opportunity to:

  • Be publicly recognised for their commitment and impact
  • Attend a special celebration event in their honour
  • Enjoy an evening of food, music and community connection
  • Feel valued and appreciated by both their organisation and the wider Borders community

To enable as many organisations as possible to take part, nominations are limited to two volunteers per organisation.

About the volunteer recognition event

The event promises to be a relaxed and joyful evening, bringing together volunteers from across the region.

Venue: Duns Volunteer Hall
Date: Thursday 4th June 2026
Time: 6.30pm for 7pm

Guests will enjoy a finger buffet and a lively Cèilidh to end the evening in true Borders style. Put on your dancing shoes!

Please let us know if support is needed with transport when submitting your nomination so we can help ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part.

Nominate your local heroes

Organisations are asked to complete a short nomination form:

This is an opportunity to showcase not only the volunteer but also the wider impact of the organisation they support.

Submissions are encouraged to include:

  • Photos of the volunteer in action
    With their permission, of course.
  • Photos showing what your organisation does
Helping to highlight the wider community impact.
  • A short video message (optional)
This can be a simple phone recording of the volunteer sharing their volunteering journey, what volunteering means to them and their favourite moments.

This is a chance to shine a spotlight on the people who strengthen communities every day and to say thank you in a meaningful and memorable way.

Nominations close on Monday 18th May 2026.
