We are pleased to welcome three new colleagues to the team, each bringing valuable experience and insight that will strengthen our employability work, volunteering opportunities and pathways into employment across the Scottish Borders.
We are delighted to announce that Amelia has joined us as our new Employability Development Lead. Amelia will be supporting employability pathways linking to our volunteering programme and raising the profile of the Third Sector as a key partner in delivering employability outcomes in the Scottish Borders.
Amelia also runs her own business as a career coach and careers services consultant.
Since moving to the Borders in 2016, Amelia has volunteered as a trustee, chair and secretary with several third sector organisations including Borders Pet Rescue, Works+ and Caddonfoot Parent & Toddler Group respectively.
Amelia is a member of the Institute of Employability Professionals, Career Development Institute and Career Thought Leaders. She is also a member of Dyslexia Scotland and promotes awareness and fairness in education.
In her spare time, Amelia enjoys tending to her veggie patches, chicken keeping, dog walking, foraging, herbalism and listening to high energy trance music.
Sara will be covering mainly the East of the region.
Sara has worked in the third sector for all her career and, as well as previously being in a senior management position in Community Education, she has worked for a number of charities including the British Red Cross, the Royal Air Forces Association and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sara volunteers for the Royal Air Forces Association as a Connections Volunteer, ringing isolated members of the RAF community. She has also volunteered, for the last 8 years, with the Alzheimer’s Society delivering Dementia Friends sessions, aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of dementia.
Sara is passionate about the arts and goes to the theatre as often as possible. She is a keen swimmer and since moving to the Borders in 2025, has also taken up snorkelling. When not in the water, Sara likes to spend time out on the motorbike.
Luca will be covering the West of the Borders.
He cares deeply about creating positive change and, over the years, has taken on a variety of roles across the third sector in the Scottish Borders and across Scotland.
Luca’s career has taken him across the charity, third and private sectors. Most recently, he joined BCA from Zero Waste Scotland, where he worked as Food Systems Partner for just over three years.
Outside work, Luca is a full-time carer and loves being outdoors. He also enjoys cooking and playing (badly) golf.
