Village Hall Retrofit

Lindean Village Hall

Lindean Village Hall used a £14,400 grant to install proper insulation, cutting energy costs and improving comfort for users. The funding prevented major fundraising, strengthened community use and completed their sustainability upgrades. The trustees praised the swift process and hope to secure support for future kitchen and toilet improvements.

Funding

1. How has this funding impacted your organisation overall?

Will help reduce our energy costs. Previously the outer hall cladding was uninsulated and heat was disappearing out of the walls. Now that proper insulation is in place, heat retention in now enhanced.

2. What difference has the funding made for the people you support?

The hall now has a noticeably more even spread of heat which is to the benefit of hall users.

3. In what ways has the funding affected your volunteers or their involvement?

Had we not received this funding, our finances would not have allowed us to complete the project without extensive fundraising by the Trustees.

4. What improvements or changes have you made to your programmes or services as a result of the funding?

As a result of the funding, we have been able to provide a more comfortable environment for hall users.

5. Has the funding led to any new collaborations or strengthened community connections?

A more comfortable hall hopefully will make it more attractive for the local community to use

6. How has the funding influenced your organisation’s sustainability or future plans?

Lower energy costs will help our finances and is obviously better for the environment. In recent years, through various grants, we have installed solar panels with battery storage, radiant heaters, and loft insulation. The grant to replace the outer hall cladding was the final project toward reducing energy costs and helping the environment.

7. What feedback do you have about the funding application and award process?

We were delighted to receive such a quick response to our application which enabled us to move forward with our plans. Although our contractor took longer than expected to complete the work, the end result has been well worthwhile.

8. What additional support would help you build on the success of this funding?

Our next project will be to upgrade the hall kitchen and toilets which are badly in need of attention. This would make our now cosy and unique little hall even more attractive to hall users. Any financial assistance towards this end would be most welcome!

9. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience with this funding?

The whole experience with this funding has been first class from the outset and we are extremely grateful to have received it.
